My ‘tango’ with creating a goal focused vision board started in 2017. With the law of attraction and the talk of ‘visualizing’ and ‘calling into being what is not’ – I found that focusing on what you want and putting structures and plans into place could actually provoke the universe to come together and place opportunities to manifest that you visualized. It may not be exactly as one expects but definitely ‘as near enough’ happens.
Then I began to read about vision boards – Steve Harvey an American TV Personality, Oprah Winfrey, etc., – all had at one time or the other maintained vision boards. So, ‘yours truly’ with my knowledge of LOA and visualizations, decided to try it out. I did this about mid 2016 – and went about my business. By early 2017, I went back to look at what I had done, I was quite surprised that about 50% of what I had put down had manifested. Woah! so I said to myself, ‘what will happen if I kept it where I can see it everyday?’ I had put the vision board out of site, contrary to what I discovered was against one of the rules of vision board manifestation. You have to place it where it is visible and you can see it everyday – and affirming what you have placed in the positive. As a Christian, this followed some biblical tenets – of positive thoughts, positive words and believing that what you ask of from God will surely come to pass.
By the year end – I was more than convinced about the power of visualizing what you want and putting it down on paper (tablet) and by seeing it everyday, at the appointed time they came to pass.
So, by 2018 January, 2018, I gave my first vision board class for free. I had manifested my goals, and I wanted to find out ‘first hand’ from other people. By mid 2018, my participants had manifested more than 70% of their goals. In fact one of my clients was so blessed that she sponsored people on two of my Vision Board Master classes – as she sponsored, so did her own dreams come to pass. Desire + Imagination + belief = manifestation of what you desire.
The human imagination is powerful, but it works like a muscle. For most of us, that power remains potential power and it’s never fully utilized.
A vision board allows you to exercise your imagination regularly, creating a more vivid vision of your ideal life and develop your ability that would bring about tangible benefits. None of which require you to believe that things will magically arrive in your mailbox or bank account if you think about them long and hard enough, by the way.
If you have a burning desire to realize a cherished, long-held dream, a clear vision is a must. And a vision board can help you develop the skills to define and shape that within your mind, something that will stay with you long after the board comes down.
Have a vision. “write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will not lie.” – Habakkuk 2:2-3
What are the benefits of creating a vision board.
A vision board has several benefits, and each one is very important and valuable in their own way. So here are the benefits that I have experienced as well as the feed back from my participants.
1. A vision board creates an emotional connection that motivates you
Forget attraction, a vision board motivates you to take action and release the energy required for manifestation.
This works especially well if you make your vision board more than just pictures. Make it also about the emotions connected with your vision and the sensory experience of it all. What sounds, smells, and sights are associated with a particular aspect of your vision? What emotions? Relief, wonder, or joy?
A vision board is only as beneficial as the work you’re willing to put into it, so dig in and make it as thorough, exciting, and detailed as possible.
2. A vision board makes real the dream in your mind so you begin to believe it’s possible
When you make something more clear and concrete in your mind, it feels more real and attainable. You start to believe that, hey, I just might be able to make this happen.
That’s one of the most powerful benefits of a vision board. No matter what you believe about yourself, no matter how much self-doubt you have, a vision board done right will slowly begin to transform your inner belief system into one which is more confident, certain, and self-motivated.
3. A vision board helps you clarify what you want out of your life because it forces you to put something down
I have had clients who came to the vision board class who were confused and unclear about what they wanted. They just knew that something was ‘missing’ – some were not happy where they were, even though they seemed to be successful. Some knew what they wanted but their head was cluttered with so many things they want to do – and therein lies the confusion. Some felt that they had no burning desire to ‘live’ – yes I had one participant who was going through a depressive state – had no job and was quite qualified. He was sent to me for therapy and luckily I had a vision board class the next day.
I told him to come in for FREE. He had no tools – I got people to share (participants in all my Vision Board Masterclasses have been so awesome and magnanimous to people who do not come in with the necessary tools. They share – and the energy is awesome. At the end of the day – he had a poster board and has gone on to getting a job and focusing on the goals he put on his poster. Is that not awesome?? Once you have a vague idea, something you can get down on the board, it helps to clarity the path to go.
My method of training for the vision board class is quite unique, if I may say so. I begin with some training on goal setting, emotions declutter, coaching on life skills generally and then in am ambiance redolent with meditative music, candles etc., – creative juices are released to tap into their intrinsic purpose, passion and then unleash the path of destiny that they have within.
Most important is this – you don’t just create a vision board and not do anything about it. The Vision Board needs to be hung or placed where it can be seen everyday. That is part of the law of attraction process – what you see becomes your reality. As you reflect on your vision board each day, you will begin to adjust what is important to you and what is not on the path to actualising your goals. You will find yourself excited each day when you allow yourself to be positive.
I hold these Clarity Vision Board Masterclasses three times a year…. at the beginning, the middle and towards the end of the year. I have an online course on creating a vision board also. But if you feel you can do it alone… although I have touched on some important parts of creating a vision board here are here are some tips.
How to create an awesome ‘energy charged’ vision board
1. Get clear on your vision
Craft your major goals. What do you feel is missing in your life? Do you have a dream that refuses to go away? Expand on that. Then take the 8 fundamental areas of your life:- relationships, health and wellbeing, career/business, personal time, recreation, security, lovelife, personal development – and check where you may need to make a change or give more thought.
2. What you will need.
- Piece of cardboard or poster paper, scissors, coloured pens, glue and anything else that grabs you
- Get old magazines or go to google. Cut out or print out images that appeal to you, quotes that inspire and motivate you, and also quotes that you may have spoken yourself. DO NOT ANALYZE. If it grabs you cut, tear out or print out. Photos and quotes that represent the goals or element of your dream. With goold search, you will find images of anything you need – it could save you the time you use to go through magazines. Just type and search.
3. Begin the Creative Process
Once you have your images, begin to put them together on your board – do not paste down permanently. Organize the images, words, quotes etc., – writing out a title and date. There must be timelines to hold you accountable. After doing this – begin to paste them on the board.
If you want to go to another level – which is the PLAN – After creating the main board, you can create another page to represent each goals.
Make out a summary of each goal and surround it with the relevant pictures. That way, when you’re reviewing your vision, the goals are already written within plain view to read and reflect upon instead of having to refer to a separate page with your written goals. If you are techi, you can create the PLAN digitally using Canva or other design tool.
4. How much time to allow?
You can set aside at least 1-1 1/2 hours to do this by yourself. You can make it even more fun if you get together friends.
Once you have pasted all – then VIOLA…you’ve officially completed your vision board. Way forward, is to make sure you spend at least 3 – 5 minutes or more each day reflecting on it, including the emotions and sensory experiences related to each aspect of your vision. A step a time, leads to the actualisation of the dreams you have.
